Shorts and over the knee sock boots

Even though, most of us put our shorts away for the fall and winter season, I don’t think that we necessarily have to do that. We can definitely can wear shorts during winter and still look amazing. Of course that we need to find a way to style them and be warm in the same time.

My favorite way of wearing them during winter is with a pair of over the knee boots.

The OTK boots are for sure the shoes of the season and they will also keep your legs warm.

I would suggest though, to choose a pair of short pants that are not light weight. Denim, wool, suede or leather are great fabric options.

If the fabric is a little bit thicker they will look great styled with a pair of opaque black tights and some booties.

I decided to go for a fun colorful look and style my shorts with a blue sweater and a yellow blazer. The rhinestone flowers on my pants add them a little touch of elegancy.

In conclusion, even if it’s winter, don’t put away all your summer clothes, because they are some pieces that with the right styling, we can create some super cool winter outfits.

Camouflage vibes: the camo jacket

The camouflage print it’s been on trend since the 90’s. In the lasts couple of years, a statement piece, especially for the winter outfits it was the camo jacket.

camo jacket

The camo jacket it’s a one of a kind, because we can wear it all year round. It works great for the cooler summer nights as a light jacket, or during winter with a knit sweater and a cozy scarf.

Maybe if you have asked me a few years ago what I think about wearing camouflage print, the answer would have been no. It was the exact same case with the leopard print or latex.

Even before I started this blog, I decided to expand my horizon and step outside my comfort zone more often. I ended up feeling more comfortable and confident wearing pieces that I never thought I would.

Back to our topic of the day. Even though the camo jacket inspires a little masculinity, it can be very sexy.

I have to admit that I like a lot a look where feminine meets tomboy style. I like a lot how this camo jacket looks with jeans. But it is something about it that makes me always to mix it with dresses or skirts.

For today’s outfit, I paired my camo jacket with a mini black denim skirt and a gray sweatshirt. I finished up the look by adding a pair of combat boots that gives a badass vibe to the entire look.

There is though one more thing about the camouflage print that I wanna mention. There is enough just one piece with this print to polish a look. It is a statement print so our attention should be focus on one single item.

To make the camo print stand out, I like to mix it with neutral colors: whites, blacks and greys.

Let’s rock this new week, my lovelies. I wish you have a great one. XoXo

How to achieve a casual but girly look

Hello my lovelies,

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families.

I was super busy today, not necessarily going for those Black Friday deals (I rather do online shopping this day, than to deal with the crowds in the store), but I had to run around the city and get some things done. That’s why I chose to wear a casual but girly look that is super comfortable.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t think that I would ever wear any midi skirts, I developed a crush and I just keep buying them.

I like this particular one, because it’s slightly asymmetric, longer in the back, which gives it that little extra something.

You can easily dress it up and add a pair of high heels, but my favorite shoe combo for this skirt, it is for sure a pair of converse.

Another obsession that I have lately, is the tulle socks: simple, with studs, pearls or stones. I want to mix them with almost any type of shoes (I’m sure that you’ll see them in future posts too).

For this particular look, I think that the socks are a nice styling trick, that adds an extra cuteness to the outfit.

The funny thing about this outfit is that, when I saw the pictures I realized that I kind of match the face on my T-shirt 🙂

Have a great weekend,

Fall outfit ideas for Thanksgiving day

Hello my lovelies,

Since I moved to the States, there is a holiday, that we didn’t have it back home, but I totally love it. Thanksgiving.

Simply because it means just quality time spent with your family. It is not about presents, on this day, the best present that you can give or get it’s just being with the ones that you love the most.

I know that this time can also be a little bit stressful, with all the cooking and baking (unfortunately I can’t help you with that), but I got your back setting your outfit for the day.

Even though we spend time surrounded by our family or closest friends, it’s a holiday so I wouldn’t recommend showing up in sweatpants and sneakers.

I put together 3 different Thanksgiving outfit ideas, so you can choose what will fit you best.

Outfit no. 1

When I created this outfit, I thought that it would be just perfect for a family reunion dinner. It is casual but super chic and what I like the most is that is very comfortable if you want to play in the leaves or throw a ball in the backyard with the kids.

Sweater: H&M/ Jeans: Levi’s/ Hat: Lucky Brand/ Boots: here/ Necklace & Bag: Zara

Outfit no.2

For the second outfit, I was thinking what if I need to go, at a Thanksgiving   dinner where I’m going to meet my boyfriend’s family for the first time. Well girl, that’s stressful… what am I supposed to wear? So I decided to go for a girly girl look, feminine but cute. That’s why I chose the floral skirt that I decided to pair it with a simple black turtle neck (no cleavage needed, trust me), you’re a good girl and their son is in good hands. Don’t choose a skirt that is too short, because grandma will be there too 😉 Be girlie, feminine, but decent and the most important: be you, let them know the real you and they’ll love you.

Turtle neck: H&M/ Skirt: Bershka/ Faux fur vest: Bershka/ OTK Boots: here, Bag: Ross

Outfit no. 3

For this look, I pictured a dinner with my closest friends. It is a casual elegant look, even if I chose a pair of black skinny jeans, I kept it pretty classy with my shirt. The jacket it is for sure the star of the show and the rest of the outfit being black is popping out for  sure.

Textured jacket: Tularosa/ Jeans: Hudson/ Shirt: COS/ Shoes: ZAra/ Bag: Karl Lagerfeld

whatever you choose to wear, keep your tops a little loose, so you have room for all that delicious turkey, baby.

Have a great time with your families and Happy Thanksgiving!

One dress, 2 different looks

One dress two different looks?

Today’s post is about how to use the same piece (in this case the dress) and integrate it in two different outfits.

I wrote about slip dresses before here and what I like the most about them is that you can put together a super stylish outfit and you’ll look like you didn’t try hard at all.

For today’s post I used this super cute asymmetric slip dress to create two separate looks.

For the first look I decided to throw over the dress a fluffy and cozy pullover. I loved how it looks with the slinky slip dress underneath. As a result, I believe that the contrast between the materials was the key for this styling. In conclusion, the only requirement that’s left, it was to add a pair of booties to finish the look.

For the second look, I replaced the sweater with a biker jacket.First of all, I’m not a big fan of wearing high heels with my slip dresses, because I like to dress them down a little. That is the reason why I choose to keep the booties for the second look too.

In addition, I chose this silver biker jacket, because I really like the effect that was created together with the shimmery of the dress.

Have a great weekend, babes!

How to wear your oversized jacket as a dress

Hello my lovelies,

In today’s post, I’ve created a look with this gorgeous oversized jean jacket. I have styled it different in this post, so if you want to see how it looks, check it out.

Being an oversized jacket, is super versatile and you can mix it with almost everything in your closet: dresses, skirts, pants and why not, even with jeans.

The slouchy look of it, makes it also perfect for some serious layering in the cold season.

In today’s post, I want to show you that if you are out of ideas, or in a “I don’t have anything to wear” moment, even a jacket can be worn as a dress.

For this particular jacket, I think you need to add a belt to accentuate your waist, so you avoid the boxy look given by the jacket. I told you in a previous post that I like to style everything with a brooch so I decided that this belt looked awesome with this cute spider brooch.

The stockings and the boots gives the perfect rock-ish look to the entire outfit.

I hope you have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.

60’s vibe: A-line skirt for fall

Hello my lovelies,

A-line skirts are a must have this fall season. What I like the most, about a A-line skirt, is the fact that it gives you a retro touch with a 60’s vibe.

A-line are very easy to style and wear, because they have a versatility that can flatter any body shape.

The skirt that I’m wearing in the pictures, it’s perfect for the cold season because the material is thick and also textured. So, you can pull out an outfit with it even in the winter. You just need to add a pair of opaque stockings and you are ready to go, my dear.

For fall, usually we see this skirts paired with booties or over the knee boots, but you already know that my favorite alternative for those is a pair of socks and platforms.

Because I kept my outfit in the black-white-navy color scheme, I decided to throw a pair of bold green platforms (now on sale for under 50$) mixed with some red socks as a “out of the ordinary” touch. I know it’s not for everybody. But if you are in the mood one day to go a little crazy, do it! Trust me, it is fun!

In conclusion, I love the retro 60’s vibe of this look and I think I`ll try more often. I kind of enjoy the whole retro idea.

Band T-shirt dress trend

Hello my lovelies,

The band T-shirt trend was huge in the 90s and it was basically the urban groupie definition.. If then, the trend was to wear them with ripped jeans, flannel shirt over and motorcycle boots, now, when they had such a big comeback, there are no fashion boundaries. Pair them with feminine accessories, high heels or even pencil skirt to get the ultimate street style.

Lately, I’m all about the low maintenance grunge look (especially that I was super sick when I took this pictures, so I needed something that didn’t require too much effort from me), but I think that a band T-shirt dress looks more badass than never.

With this look, I tried to bring a little bit of the 90s Seattle scene into present… I think I did a pretty good job 🙂

How do you like to style your band T-shirt or dresses?

Have an amazing week,

How to wear socks and high heels

In today’s post, I want to talk about my favorite styling tricks and that’s  how we wear socks and high heels.

NO! I’m definitely not talking about the tourist “faux pas” socks and sandals :).

Before we knew that almost “everything is allowed” in fashion, (I said ALMOST, because there is a thin line between an outstanding styling and ridiculous) we were wearing socks only with our athletic shoes at the gym, or to do a quick run to the grocery store. Now, that sounds really boring and flat. How much fun you can have when styling socks and high heels. It is not a new trend at all, but I have a feeling that we’ll start to see it more often again.

I have to say it though, the socks and high heels sandals are a combination that fashion conservatives tend to stay away from.

It is one of my favorite styling tricks for fall, because I don’t want to wear only boots when the air starts to be a little bit crispy. In my crazy mind, sometimes I think that heeled sandals were invented as an opportunity to show off your socks :))

A really nice contrast is mixing sporty socks (with athletic stripes) and your feminine high heels to bring the whole outfit on the casual side, wearing a pair of lurex or even glitter socks will give a little extra something to the entire outfit.

For this outfit, I chose a pair of thick over the knee socks, that I didn’t pull all the way up, so it will match the volume that I created in the top of my outfit with the chunky casual-elegant hoodie.

How to wear a kimono with jeans

Hello lovelies,

We see it in the window of every store right now- the trendy kimono. Patterned usually with lots of flowers in bloom, or even palm trees fronds, it is incredibly appealing and you definitely can be temped by the fabulous print, but are we ready to wear it outside?

I told you before that I’m totally digging the pijama trend, which I think is totally stylish, so of course I love the kimono’s but the last thing that we want is to look like we forgot to take off our loungewear robe.

Styling a kimono it is really simple and requires the most basic attire: a T-shirt and some skinny jeans.

If you want to create an outfit using a kimono as your center piece, you should give the entire look the idea of effortless, like the kimono is was thrown on careless. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend trying to match the design, or adding more layers than the jeans and a T-shirt, because your entire look will look over-thought, which is exactly the opposite of an “I didn’t try too much” outfit.

How do you wear yours?
