Shorts and over the knee sock boots

Even though, most of us put our shorts away for the fall and winter season, I don’t think that we necessarily have to do that. We can definitely can wear shorts during winter and still look amazing. Of course that we need to find a way to style them and be warm in the same time.

My favorite way of wearing them during winter is with a pair of over the knee boots.

The OTK boots are for sure the shoes of the season and they will also keep your legs warm.

I would suggest though, to choose a pair of short pants that are not light weight. Denim, wool, suede or leather are great fabric options.

If the fabric is a little bit thicker they will look great styled with a pair of opaque black tights and some booties.

I decided to go for a fun colorful look and style my shorts with a blue sweater and a yellow blazer. The rhinestone flowers on my pants add them a little touch of elegancy.

In conclusion, even if it’s winter, don’t put away all your summer clothes, because they are some pieces that with the right styling, we can create some super cool winter outfits.

Looking classy during fall

Hello my lovelies,

In today’s post I chose to show you a super simple outfit, that will make you look classy during fall.

The entire outfit is created out of basic pieces that I’m sure you can find them in your closet. It is easy to recreate it, in case that you like it.

I love to mix the cami silk top in a lot of my outfits, because is super comfortable and gives a sexy look.

For fall outfits, I like to wear the cami top underneath deep v neck sweaters, or with a knitted blazer, like in today’s post.

The bottom part of my outfit I kept it pretty simple, with a pair of black skinny jeans and this camel shade open-toe booties.

The accessories are really simple, because I wore this outfit for a brunch date with my girls.

I wanted to keep the fall color scheme and stay in the beige zone, so I thought that this brown beautiful dragonfly brooch (yep, I know, another brooch) will fit perfectly in the scene with some gold bangles.

If I would want to wear it this outfit in the evening, for dinner, I would add a statement necklace, some earrings and call it a night.

One dress, 2 different looks

One dress two different looks?

Today’s post is about how to use the same piece (in this case the dress) and integrate it in two different outfits.

I wrote about slip dresses before here and what I like the most about them is that you can put together a super stylish outfit and you’ll look like you didn’t try hard at all.

For today’s post I used this super cute asymmetric slip dress to create two separate looks.

For the first look I decided to throw over the dress a fluffy and cozy pullover. I loved how it looks with the slinky slip dress underneath. As a result, I believe that the contrast between the materials was the key for this styling. In conclusion, the only requirement that’s left, it was to add a pair of booties to finish the look.

For the second look, I replaced the sweater with a biker jacket.First of all, I’m not a big fan of wearing high heels with my slip dresses, because I like to dress them down a little. That is the reason why I choose to keep the booties for the second look too.

In addition, I chose this silver biker jacket, because I really like the effect that was created together with the shimmery of the dress.

Trend alert: the vinyl skirt

Hello my lovelies,

Vinyl is a really big fashion trend right now and to be honest I didn’t think that I would be digging it.

While it doesn’t matter if we talk about skirts, pants, or coats, vinyl it is for sure the latest street style trend.

I like how vinyl skirts look in an outfit if they are dressed down and worn with a heavy knit sweater or even a sweatshirt. I’m not a big fan of how they look with high heels or in a more elegant look.

First of all, this skirt has a funny story behind, because I wasn’t looking to buy one, not even crossed my mind that I would wear one. EVER! However, while I was in H&M shopping for some sweater, I found the one that I’m wearing in this outfit. So, on my way to the fitting room, I saw the skirt. I was 100% sure that I would not like it, but just for fun I decided to try it on. Oh well, it seems like I have a big surprise. Most of all, I loved how it looked mixed with this sweater; perfect combination.

In conclusion, that’s how this look was born: in a fitting room at H&M.

So, are you digging the vinyl trend?

Glen plaid skirt

Hello my lovelies,

It’s not just sweater and knits season, fall is also great to wear some plaid pattern pieces.

The glen plaid is a combination of small and large checks and usually we can find it in muted neutrals (gray, brown, beige and black). The beauty of this color scheme is that it gives you unlimited possibilities for mixing it with other colors.

This print makes me think of fall for sure, but trust me, I couldn’t put on anything more than a skirt and a T-shirt, because October in LA means over 100 degrees F (38C). It has been pretty challenging to come up with great fall outfit ideas, when all I want to wear are super light beach dresses.

Some of you guys, that are actually enjoying the nice October weather, you can also wear this outfit just by throwing a coat or blazer over your shoulder.

Being a pencil skirt with a plaid pattern it will make you think first of an office outfit, so I definitely wanted to take it out of that zone and style it a little different.

I went more for a casual-elegant look, dressed down the skirt by adding the T-shirt, but still kept a little of it’s elegancy with the high heels.

How to wear your oversized coat with style

Hello my lovelies,

Cozy outfits are a continuous favorite of mine during this time of the year, but on the other hand I don’t want to look like a walking onion with 1 million layers on me. And my dear, nothing makes you look more warmer or more stylish than an oversized coat.

You can definitely set out an outfit with an oversized coat, if you keep in mind your height when you choose the length of it, because all comes down to balancing out proportions. Taste and style it is our personal choice, so it might depends on your particular preferences.

Looking in my closet, I realized that for some reason I have more grey-ish shades for fall than brown or neutral. I feel that they give you more of a polished, sleek look than the warm shades.

Since I kept my outfit pretty much neutral, I decided to add a simple, but effective splash of color: a red beanie. It is that 5% of red that works in every outfit.

How to wear distressed sweater

Hello my lovelies,

Sipping from a hot coffee on the go on a sunny but crisp morning, leaves on the ground in the most beautiful shades of brown and our heads tucked in cozy blanket scarfs it is my perfect definition of fall.

When it’s cold outside but not enough to need a jacket or coat, my most favored fall piece to play and style is the sweater.

With skirts or jeans, oversized, monochrome or with prints, they are for sure the star of the show, in your wardrobe, for fall.

I really enjoy chunky cozy sweaters, especially this one because I like the distressed look of it. My choice to style it was  with this simple black denim skirt, so it almost looks like I’m wearing just the sweater. If you decide to wear it as a sweater dress, it is a little bit too short but if you add a pair of super opaque black stocking with can easy get away with it.

Even if we are talking about super trendy ones, or just simple, sweaters will always be no.1 staple of fall, every single year.

How to wear socks and high heels

In today’s post, I want to talk about my favorite styling tricks and that’s  how we wear socks and high heels.

NO! I’m definitely not talking about the tourist “faux pas” socks and sandals :).

Before we knew that almost “everything is allowed” in fashion, (I said ALMOST, because there is a thin line between an outstanding styling and ridiculous) we were wearing socks only with our athletic shoes at the gym, or to do a quick run to the grocery store. Now, that sounds really boring and flat. How much fun you can have when styling socks and high heels. It is not a new trend at all, but I have a feeling that we’ll start to see it more often again.

I have to say it though, the socks and high heels sandals are a combination that fashion conservatives tend to stay away from.

It is one of my favorite styling tricks for fall, because I don’t want to wear only boots when the air starts to be a little bit crispy. In my crazy mind, sometimes I think that heeled sandals were invented as an opportunity to show off your socks :))

A really nice contrast is mixing sporty socks (with athletic stripes) and your feminine high heels to bring the whole outfit on the casual side, wearing a pair of lurex or even glitter socks will give a little extra something to the entire outfit.

For this outfit, I chose a pair of thick over the knee socks, that I didn’t pull all the way up, so it will match the volume that I created in the top of my outfit with the chunky casual-elegant hoodie.

Knit dress: perfect fall outfit

Hello my lovelies,

Today’s post is another fall outfit because October is here, so it’s the smell of pumpkin spice lattes, cinnamon and all we have the best from fall. Besides the lattes, I don’t really feel that is fall in southern California, because it feels like summer (the temperatures were in upper 80 when I was shooting this outfit).

Let’s be honest: knit dress is not new, fashion forward or unseen, but yet cozy, really trendy that we’ll keep us warm.

Besides sweaters, the knit dress, is another staple piece to have in your closet for the cold season.

I got this dress from Forever XXI especially for fall, because it looked different with a little bit of sparkle and I felt for the olive green color of it. It is not one of those chunky unshaped dresses and the two slides on the sides gives it more of a feminine look even if you wear it with sneakers.

Knitted dresses are really versatile, so you can do some layering by adding a biker jacket or even throw a blanket scarf over it.

I wish you have a cozy, warm fall, full of stylish outfits.

How to style faux leather dress

Hello my lovelies,

Leather is one of the most stylish fabric, that I love to wear it all year round.

I really love the way it looks even if we talk about skinnies, biker jackets, skirts or dresses.

Leather itself is a fabric that makes quite a statement, so that being said I would definitely go for a leather dress that has more of a lose fitting and you will be able to style it so many different ways.

You can try a more unexpected styling (you all know already that I’m digging those ones for sure) and chose a pair of really cool sneakers and a denim jacket.

I’m pretty much obsessed with leather, so I will be styling more leather pieces in future posts… just stay close 🙂
