Camouflage vibes: the camo jacket

The camouflage print it’s been on trend since the 90’s. In the lasts couple of years, a statement piece, especially for the winter outfits it was the camo jacket.

camo jacket

The camo jacket it’s a one of a kind, because we can wear it all year round. It works great for the cooler summer nights as a light jacket, or during winter with a knit sweater and a cozy scarf.

Maybe if you have asked me a few years ago what I think about wearing camouflage print, the answer would have been no. It was the exact same case with the leopard print or latex.

Even before I started this blog, I decided to expand my horizon and step outside my comfort zone more often. I ended up feeling more comfortable and confident wearing pieces that I never thought I would.

Back to our topic of the day. Even though the camo jacket inspires a little masculinity, it can be very sexy.

I have to admit that I like a lot a look where feminine meets tomboy style. I like a lot how this camo jacket looks with jeans. But it is something about it that makes me always to mix it with dresses or skirts.

For today’s outfit, I paired my camo jacket with a mini black denim skirt and a gray sweatshirt. I finished up the look by adding a pair of combat boots that gives a badass vibe to the entire look.

There is though one more thing about the camouflage print that I wanna mention. There is enough just one piece with this print to polish a look. It is a statement print so our attention should be focus on one single item.

To make the camo print stand out, I like to mix it with neutral colors: whites, blacks and greys.

Let’s rock this new week, my lovelies. I wish you have a great one. XoXo

Embroidered mini skirt

Happy Monday my lovelies! I don’t know exactly what happened, but this fall I have a thing for embroidered pieces and for patterns. This gorgeous embroidered mini skirt it is my first item since all this embroidery fever started.

embroidered mini skirt

The pattern and the detailing it is absolutely stunning and the unbelievable part is that it costs only 30$.

I know this skirt might not be new for you, we’ve already seen it almost all over the fashion blogosphere. The strange part is that I still wanted it, even though, usually it doesn’t matter how much I like something, if everyone has it, I’m not getting it anymore.

Well, with this skirt, it was a different story. For some reason, the pattern and the embroidered fabric reminds me of the traditional Romanian costumes. With Christmas being so close, I am a little more emotional than usual. So, every time I’m wearing this skirt I have a melancholic smile on my face, because it reminds me of my family and the place where I grew up.

We’ve seen this embroidered mini skirt incorporated in a lot of summer outfits.Usually, worn with white t-shirts or tops. I saw it more appropriate for fall, so I paired it with a cozy sweater and a faux fur vest.

Anytime I’m wearing this vest I get a million compliments.Everyone tells me that is pretty hard to believe that it is a faux fur. It looks and feels extraordinary real but it is not.

It’s true that I don’t wear real fur, especially when we have such great alternatives.

I hope you all have a great week ahead full of fulfillment.

How to achieve a casual but girly look

Hello my lovelies,

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families.

I was super busy today, not necessarily going for those Black Friday deals (I rather do online shopping this day, than to deal with the crowds in the store), but I had to run around the city and get some things done. That’s why I chose to wear a casual but girly look that is super comfortable.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t think that I would ever wear any midi skirts, I developed a crush and I just keep buying them.

I like this particular one, because it’s slightly asymmetric, longer in the back, which gives it that little extra something.

You can easily dress it up and add a pair of high heels, but my favorite shoe combo for this skirt, it is for sure a pair of converse.

Another obsession that I have lately, is the tulle socks: simple, with studs, pearls or stones. I want to mix them with almost any type of shoes (I’m sure that you’ll see them in future posts too).

For this particular look, I think that the socks are a nice styling trick, that adds an extra cuteness to the outfit.

The funny thing about this outfit is that, when I saw the pictures I realized that I kind of match the face on my T-shirt 🙂

Have a great weekend,

XoXo, OD

How to wear sweatpants with high heels

Hello my lovelies,

Sweatpants and high heels together? Yes, please. It seems like we live in decade, when putting together sporty pieces with feminine ones, is not only more than acceptable, but super cool and trendy.

The sweatpants and high heels combo is back on its fashion track. When you think of sweatpants, you see them paired with sneakers, flip flops or in the cold season with UGG. And when it comes high heels, we think about something really feminine like dresses, skirts, dress pants or jeans. How about we step out of the ordinary and experiment by mixing these 2 together. The rules are not broken… we are creating new rules.

Of course that it was a time, when such a combination it was a totally fashion faux pas, but in the end, isn’t style a form of self expression? If you feel that a certain look represents you, don’t hold back, go for it babe.

If you want to go for this kind of look, I would suggest to mix a simple pair of sweatpants in a classic color, with some really feminine heels: strap sandals, pumps or stilettos.

In conclusion, it is a laid back look but uber sexy.

I hope you have a great time tomorrow with your families and give thanks for all the beautiful things that you have in your lives. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for reading me and for being a big part of my life.

Favorite fall coat

favorite fall coat

Hello my lovelies,

The star of the show in today’s post is for sure, the coat.

When I saw it in the store, I automatically knew that I want it to be mine.

Trying on a small size, which it was way too big for me, it was a big disappointment, because I thought that is a very unique coat and I could create some really cool outfits with it. I was checking what else they had, when on the other side of the store I saw another coat, which for my surprise it was an XS.

The fabric of the coat is what makes it so different and interesting… kind of a mesh, but not really, that’s the reason why I chose to style it with a leather mini skirt and some fishnet leggings.

I decided to go for a black on black outfit, more on the edgy side, because for some reason I find myself digging this style a lot.

Looking classy during fall

Hello my lovelies,

In today’s post I chose to show you a super simple outfit, that will make you look classy during fall.

The entire outfit is created out of basic pieces that I’m sure you can find them in your closet. It is easy to recreate it, in case that you like it.

I love to mix the cami silk top in a lot of my outfits, because is super comfortable and gives a sexy look.

For fall outfits, I like to wear the cami top underneath deep v neck sweaters, or with a knitted blazer, like in today’s post.

The bottom part of my outfit I kept it pretty simple, with a pair of black skinny jeans and this camel shade open-toe booties.

The accessories are really simple, because I wore this outfit for a brunch date with my girls.

I wanted to keep the fall color scheme and stay in the beige zone, so I thought that this brown beautiful dragonfly brooch (yep, I know, another brooch) will fit perfectly in the scene with some gold bangles.

If I would want to wear it this outfit in the evening, for dinner, I would add a statement necklace, some earrings and call it a night.

One dress, 2 different looks

One dress two different looks?

Today’s post is about how to use the same piece (in this case the dress) and integrate it in two different outfits.

I wrote about slip dresses before here and what I like the most about them is that you can put together a super stylish outfit and you’ll look like you didn’t try hard at all.

For today’s post I used this super cute asymmetric slip dress to create two separate looks.

For the first look I decided to throw over the dress a fluffy and cozy pullover. I loved how it looks with the slinky slip dress underneath. As a result, I believe that the contrast between the materials was the key for this styling. In conclusion, the only requirement that’s left, it was to add a pair of booties to finish the look.

For the second look, I replaced the sweater with a biker jacket.First of all, I’m not a big fan of wearing high heels with my slip dresses, because I like to dress them down a little. That is the reason why I choose to keep the booties for the second look too.

In addition, I chose this silver biker jacket, because I really like the effect that was created together with the shimmery of the dress.

Trend alert: the vinyl skirt

Hello my lovelies,

Vinyl is a really big fashion trend right now and to be honest I didn’t think that I would be digging it.

While it doesn’t matter if we talk about skirts, pants, or coats, vinyl it is for sure the latest street style trend.

I like how vinyl skirts look in an outfit if they are dressed down and worn with a heavy knit sweater or even a sweatshirt. I’m not a big fan of how they look with high heels or in a more elegant look.

First of all, this skirt has a funny story behind, because I wasn’t looking to buy one, not even crossed my mind that I would wear one. EVER! However, while I was in H&M shopping for some sweater, I found the one that I’m wearing in this outfit. So, on my way to the fitting room, I saw the skirt. I was 100% sure that I would not like it, but just for fun I decided to try it on. Oh well, it seems like I have a big surprise. Most of all, I loved how it looked mixed with this sweater; perfect combination.

In conclusion, that’s how this look was born: in a fitting room at H&M.

So, are you digging the vinyl trend?

Glen plaid skirt

Hello my lovelies,

It’s not just sweater and knits season, fall is also great to wear some plaid pattern pieces.

The glen plaid is a combination of small and large checks and usually we can find it in muted neutrals (gray, brown, beige and black). The beauty of this color scheme is that it gives you unlimited possibilities for mixing it with other colors.

This print makes me think of fall for sure, but trust me, I couldn’t put on anything more than a skirt and a T-shirt, because October in LA means over 100 degrees F (38C). It has been pretty challenging to come up with great fall outfit ideas, when all I want to wear are super light beach dresses.

Some of you guys, that are actually enjoying the nice October weather, you can also wear this outfit just by throwing a coat or blazer over your shoulder.

Being a pencil skirt with a plaid pattern it will make you think first of an office outfit, so I definitely wanted to take it out of that zone and style it a little different.

I went more for a casual-elegant look, dressed down the skirt by adding the T-shirt, but still kept a little of it’s elegancy with the high heels.

Band T-shirt dress trend

Hello my lovelies,

The band T-shirt trend was huge in the 90s and it was basically the urban groupie definition.. If then, the trend was to wear them with ripped jeans, flannel shirt over and motorcycle boots, now, when they had such a big comeback, there are no fashion boundaries. Pair them with feminine accessories, high heels or even pencil skirt to get the ultimate street style.

Lately, I’m all about the low maintenance grunge look (especially that I was super sick when I took this pictures, so I needed something that didn’t require too much effort from me), but I think that a band T-shirt dress looks more badass than never.

With this look, I tried to bring a little bit of the 90s Seattle scene into present… I think I did a pretty good job 🙂

How do you like to style your band T-shirt or dresses?

Have an amazing week,
