Valentine’s day outfit ideas

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, in today’s post I wanna share with you some outfit ideas for this magical day.

On Valentine’s Day we celebrate love… it’s about sharing and giving., even though we don’t necessarily need a certain day or date to do that.

Love it’s the most amazing emotion in our lives. It is what makes us humans and what makes life worth living.

It is never about the size of your house, your car’s brand, how big your bank account is, or  the beauty of your partner. All of these become insignificant, compared with what really makes us tremble.

It’s about hiding in your significant other’s arms after a bad day and feel safe. About having someone who shares your dreams. About that special person that puts a smile on your face in the morning just by seeing them.

Valentine’s Day it’s not only about giving chocolate and roses. How about giving this year your time? Be together, enjoying each other’s company, spend  quality time and make great memories.

I think it’s enough chick shit for one single post, so let’s move on and talk about outfits.

Us, girls, usually dress up for ourselves… however we feel like, without carrying about what other people have to say about it. Which is great, don’t get me wrong. However, if your beloved one makes an effort to take out for dinner at a fancy restaurant, it’s fair enough for us to wear something that they would like.

Trust me, they would rather be at home with you, watching Netflix & chill on the couch, then to go in a restaurant with hundreds of other people. But guess what? They do it, because you want to and because they care about what makes you happy.

Now if they would prefer you in a sexier look… Girl, you better put those high heels on and that gorgeous sexy dress that you never wear, because he deserves it.

Valentine’s Day it’s not only for couples. If you are single, you can plan a Galentine’s Day and have some fun with your besties.

You can definitely show some love to your friends that were next to you through good or bad. I think that kind of love deserves to be celebrated as well.

Smart casual: Dress pants and sneakers

Busy days require a simple, yet stylish look. Today, “the look” is about how we wear dress pants and sneakers.

dress pants and sneakers

To be honest, dress pants and sneakers it is a little of an understated look. I don’t understand why, because if done correctly it is super cool, fashionable and stylish. I don’t even have to say anything about how comfortable this look is.

The more elegant the trousers, the better, because the juxtaposition will create more of a balancing look.

When you want to go for this kind of look, what’s really important is the tailoring of the pants. You can wear them with a basic white t-shirt, but the dress pants need to have an impeccable fit. The reason why I’m saying this, it is because you really don’t want to look like you’re just commuting to work in your comfy shoes.

Bringing the look to the casual side by adding the sneakers and the white tee, I felt the need tp add a touch of glam. The pearl suspenders was the best accessory to complete the look.

I would highly recommend this outfit even for office, casual business meetings or even as a daily look, when your to do list seems never ending.

How to wear the flared jeans?

Flared jeans are one of those items that are again back on trend. They have an amazing silhouette that became famous in the 70’s. I have to confess: I always enjoyed that decade’s fashion.

flared jeans

So, if you are tired of your everyday skinny jeans, a great alternative will be the flare denim.

I want to say though, that they are not as easy to style, as your skinny ones. They require a little bit more attention to details.

For example, try a pair of flared jeans with a high waist to accentuate the curves that you actually want to. The bonus par: they will also give you an elongate silhouette.

When wearing this style of jeans, you need to keep in mind one word: balance. They look amazing with crop tops, waist length blazers or jackets.

As for shoes, I believe that the flared jeans look the best with high heels, platforms or even wedges. A high sole shoe, will make you definitely look taller and your legs like they don’t have an end. And that, it’s just any girl’s dream.

You don’t have to give up your trustworthy skinny jeans for a pair of flared ones, but they are a great addition to your closet, for when you want to try something fresh, something different.

Classy black- tricks in achieving an elegant all black look

Today I want to talk about the classy black. Achieving an elegant and classy all black look, is not difficult if you keep in mind a few rules.

Today I want to talk about the classy black. Achieving an elegant and classy all black look, is not difficult if you keep in mind a few rules.

When you think about an elegant, feminine, all black outfit, what’s the first think that comes into your mind? For me, it is Coco Chanel with her staple “little black dress”.

Black looks good on all hair colors, skin tones; black is elegant and timeless.

If you want to approach an all black outfit and look fashionable, I’ll share some tips with you that help me every time.

First of all, in every all black outfits, the most important thing that you should pay attention to, is fitting. True that black is slimming, however you don’t want to look shapeless. So, take advantage of it’s flattering attribute and wear more fitted clothes.

I’m guilty of this one. My all time favorite trick in a monochrome outfit (especially black) is: bold accessorizing. In today’s outfit, for example, I made a statement with the feather brooch. It completely changed the blazer, from a simple piece, to one that draws all the attention.

If you feel the need to add a pop of color, you can do it by choosing a pair of shoes in a bold color.

I wanted to keep my shoes black, because these blue, sparkly pearl socks just stole my heart. I just saw them perfectly integrated in this look; they are in the same styling zone with my whole outfit.

A mix of pearls, lace and feathers… can it get any better? Oh, yes my dear! Red lips. I always though that you have to create a balance between your outfit and your hairstyle and makeup. Don’t forget that is part of the look.

A cat eye liner and red lips was everything that I needed to complete this classy black look.

What are the occasions, when you like to wear an all black outfit?

Have a great week my lovelies,

How to achieve a casual but girly look

Hello my lovelies,

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families.

I was super busy today, not necessarily going for those Black Friday deals (I rather do online shopping this day, than to deal with the crowds in the store), but I had to run around the city and get some things done. That’s why I chose to wear a casual but girly look that is super comfortable.

A few years ago, I wouldn’t think that I would ever wear any midi skirts, I developed a crush and I just keep buying them.

I like this particular one, because it’s slightly asymmetric, longer in the back, which gives it that little extra something.

You can easily dress it up and add a pair of high heels, but my favorite shoe combo for this skirt, it is for sure a pair of converse.

Another obsession that I have lately, is the tulle socks: simple, with studs, pearls or stones. I want to mix them with almost any type of shoes (I’m sure that you’ll see them in future posts too).

For this particular look, I think that the socks are a nice styling trick, that adds an extra cuteness to the outfit.

The funny thing about this outfit is that, when I saw the pictures I realized that I kind of match the face on my T-shirt 🙂

Have a great weekend,

Fall outfit ideas for Thanksgiving day

Hello my lovelies,

Since I moved to the States, there is a holiday, that we didn’t have it back home, but I totally love it. Thanksgiving.

Simply because it means just quality time spent with your family. It is not about presents, on this day, the best present that you can give or get it’s just being with the ones that you love the most.

I know that this time can also be a little bit stressful, with all the cooking and baking (unfortunately I can’t help you with that), but I got your back setting your outfit for the day.

Even though we spend time surrounded by our family or closest friends, it’s a holiday so I wouldn’t recommend showing up in sweatpants and sneakers.

I put together 3 different Thanksgiving outfit ideas, so you can choose what will fit you best.

Outfit no. 1

When I created this outfit, I thought that it would be just perfect for a family reunion dinner. It is casual but super chic and what I like the most is that is very comfortable if you want to play in the leaves or throw a ball in the backyard with the kids.

Sweater: H&M/ Jeans: Levi’s/ Hat: Lucky Brand/ Boots: here/ Necklace & Bag: Zara

Outfit no.2

For the second outfit, I was thinking what if I need to go, at a Thanksgiving   dinner where I’m going to meet my boyfriend’s family for the first time. Well girl, that’s stressful… what am I supposed to wear? So I decided to go for a girly girl look, feminine but cute. That’s why I chose the floral skirt that I decided to pair it with a simple black turtle neck (no cleavage needed, trust me), you’re a good girl and their son is in good hands. Don’t choose a skirt that is too short, because grandma will be there too 😉 Be girlie, feminine, but decent and the most important: be you, let them know the real you and they’ll love you.

Turtle neck: H&M/ Skirt: Bershka/ Faux fur vest: Bershka/ OTK Boots: here, Bag: Ross

Outfit no. 3

For this look, I pictured a dinner with my closest friends. It is a casual elegant look, even if I chose a pair of black skinny jeans, I kept it pretty classy with my shirt. The jacket it is for sure the star of the show and the rest of the outfit being black is popping out for  sure.

Textured jacket: Tularosa/ Jeans: Hudson/ Shirt: COS/ Shoes: ZAra/ Bag: Karl Lagerfeld

whatever you choose to wear, keep your tops a little loose, so you have room for all that delicious turkey, baby.

Have a great time with your families and Happy Thanksgiving!

XoXo, OD!

Looking classy during fall

Hello my lovelies,

In today’s post I chose to show you a super simple outfit, that will make you look classy during fall.

The entire outfit is created out of basic pieces that I’m sure you can find them in your closet. It is easy to recreate it, in case that you like it.

I love to mix the cami silk top in a lot of my outfits, because is super comfortable and gives a sexy look.

For fall outfits, I like to wear the cami top underneath deep v neck sweaters, or with a knitted blazer, like in today’s post.

The bottom part of my outfit I kept it pretty simple, with a pair of black skinny jeans and this camel shade open-toe booties.

The accessories are really simple, because I wore this outfit for a brunch date with my girls.

I wanted to keep the fall color scheme and stay in the beige zone, so I thought that this brown beautiful dragonfly brooch (yep, I know, another brooch) will fit perfectly in the scene with some gold bangles.

If I would want to wear it this outfit in the evening, for dinner, I would add a statement necklace, some earrings and call it a night.

Cami top: H&M

Jeans: Hudson

One dress, 2 different looks

One dress two different looks?

Today’s post is about how to use the same piece (in this case the dress) and integrate it in two different outfits.

I wrote about slip dresses before here and what I like the most about them is that you can put together a super stylish outfit and you’ll look like you didn’t try hard at all.

For today’s post I used this super cute asymmetric slip dress to create two separate looks.

For the first look I decided to throw over the dress a fluffy and cozy pullover. I loved how it looks with the slinky slip dress underneath. As a result, I believe that the contrast between the materials was the key for this styling. In conclusion, the only requirement that’s left, it was to add a pair of booties to finish the look.

Slip dress: Zara

Pullover: Forever XXI

Belt: here

Booties: Steve Madden

Bag: Zara

For the second look, I replaced the sweater with a biker jacket.First of all, I’m not a big fan of wearing high heels with my slip dresses, because I like to dress them down a little. That is the reason why I choose to keep the booties for the second look too.

In addition, I chose this silver biker jacket, because I really like the effect that was created together with the shimmery of the dress.

Jacket: H&M

T-shirt: Drew

Necklaces: H&M

Have a great weekend, babes!

Glen plaid skirt

Hello my lovelies,

It’s not just sweater and knits season, fall is also great to wear some plaid pattern pieces.

The glen plaid is a combination of small and large checks and usually we can find it in muted neutrals (gray, brown, beige and black). The beauty of this color scheme is that it gives you unlimited possibilities for mixing it with other colors.

This print makes me think of fall for sure, but trust me, I couldn’t put on anything more than a skirt and a T-shirt, because October in LA means over 100 degrees F (38C). It has been pretty challenging to come up with great fall outfit ideas, when all I want to wear are super light beach dresses.

Some of you guys, that are actually enjoying the nice October weather, you can also wear this outfit just by throwing a coat or blazer over your shoulder.

Being a pencil skirt with a plaid pattern it will make you think first of an office outfit, so I definitely wanted to take it out of that zone and style it a little different.

I went more for a casual-elegant look, dressed down the skirt by adding the T-shirt, but still kept a little of it’s elegancy with the high heels.

Skirt and T-shirt: H&M

Leather top: Zara

Booties: Chinese Laundry

Bag: Karl Lagerfeld

Band T-shirt dress trend

Hello my lovelies,

The band T-shirt trend was huge in the 90s and it was basically the urban groupie definition.. If then, the trend was to wear them with ripped jeans, flannel shirt over and motorcycle boots, now, when they had such a big comeback, there are no fashion boundaries. Pair them with feminine accessories, high heels or even pencil skirt to get the ultimate street style.

Lately, I’m all about the low maintenance grunge look (especially that I was super sick when I took this pictures, so I needed something that didn’t require too much effort from me), but I think that a band T-shirt dress looks more badass than never.

With this look, I tried to bring a little bit of the 90s Seattle scene into present… I think I did a pretty good job 🙂

How do you like to style your band T-shirt or dresses?

Have an amazing week,
