Turtleneck midi bodycon dress

Lately I’ve been into buying basic pieces, that I can dress them up or down and mix them with some statement ones. That was my reason when I bought this turtleneck midi bodycon dress.

turtleneck dress

I was on the hunt for the perfect black turtleneck dress for ages. I just didn’t find one that would match my criteria.

All I wanted was a turtleneck dress made of a thick material, so I can wear it in the cold months too. It would have a mid-calf length and long sleeves. Trust me, it wasn’t easy, but I scored when I found this one at Zara.

There are a lot of days when I feel that I don’t have anything to wear (I’m sure you know the feeling) or when I’m just too tired to think of a complex outfit. Then all I would want is to go outside in my PJ and put 0 effort in getting ready.

This kind of dresses it was for sure created for those kind of days. Super easy to style, they allow you to dress them up or down just by choosing what shoes are you going to wear.

It is a super comfortable dress, but it’s very sexy in the same time. I can say that is my version of a LBD for the winter.

I styled mine with a short silver biker jacket too add a little contrast with the dress. The booties have a little bit of a heel but they are comfortable to walk around in them.

The beauty of such a simple turtleneck dress is that you can go crazy with the accessories without being too much.

Fall outfit ideas for Thanksgiving day

Hello my lovelies,

Since I moved to the States, there is a holiday, that we didn’t have it back home, but I totally love it. Thanksgiving.

Simply because it means just quality time spent with your family. It is not about presents, on this day, the best present that you can give or get it’s just being with the ones that you love the most.

I know that this time can also be a little bit stressful, with all the cooking and baking (unfortunately I can’t help you with that), but I got your back setting your outfit for the day.

Even though we spend time surrounded by our family or closest friends, it’s a holiday so I wouldn’t recommend showing up in sweatpants and sneakers.

I put together 3 different Thanksgiving outfit ideas, so you can choose what will fit you best.

Outfit no. 1

When I created this outfit, I thought that it would be just perfect for a family reunion dinner. It is casual but super chic and what I like the most is that is very comfortable if you want to play in the leaves or throw a ball in the backyard with the kids.

Sweater: H&M/ Jeans: Levi’s/ Hat: Lucky Brand/ Boots: here/ Necklace & Bag: Zara

Outfit no.2

For the second outfit, I was thinking what if I need to go, at a Thanksgiving   dinner where I’m going to meet my boyfriend’s family for the first time. Well girl, that’s stressful… what am I supposed to wear? So I decided to go for a girly girl look, feminine but cute. That’s why I chose the floral skirt that I decided to pair it with a simple black turtle neck (no cleavage needed, trust me), you’re a good girl and their son is in good hands. Don’t choose a skirt that is too short, because grandma will be there too 😉 Be girlie, feminine, but decent and the most important: be you, let them know the real you and they’ll love you.

Turtle neck: H&M/ Skirt: Bershka/ Faux fur vest: Bershka/ OTK Boots: here, Bag: Ross

Outfit no. 3

For this look, I pictured a dinner with my closest friends. It is a casual elegant look, even if I chose a pair of black skinny jeans, I kept it pretty classy with my shirt. The jacket it is for sure the star of the show and the rest of the outfit being black is popping out for  sure.

Textured jacket: Tularosa/ Jeans: Hudson/ Shirt: COS/ Shoes: ZAra/ Bag: Karl Lagerfeld

whatever you choose to wear, keep your tops a little loose, so you have room for all that delicious turkey, baby.

Have a great time with your families and Happy Thanksgiving!

XoXo, OD!

How to wear leather pants

Today is all about the leather pants. They have been on trend forever and if worn correctly, they can give the most stylish, chic or elegant look.

I already told you in a previous post, that one of my favorite fabrics to wear when fall comes, it’s leather. I talked here about my favorite leather dress, or in this post about how to style pleated midi leather skirt.

When styling leather pants, you have to be careful what are you going to pair them with. I usually like to create a contrast between fabrics, so for example, to achieve an elegant look, I like to mix the leather pants with a super feminine lace top.

In today’s outfit post, I wanted to do a casual look, something more street style. I have this pair of leather pants for over a year, but I didn’t wear them once, because they don’t have that perfect fit, cigarette cut that I prefer. I ended up loving how they look, paired with this super loose knit sweater.

Being an all black outfit, I wanted to add a pop of color by wearing this super interesting pair of pumps. What’s so special about them? They are not leather, it’s more of a perforated fabric that sets them on the casual side.

To finish off the look, I added this stylish hat, that made the perfect match with the shades.

I hope you had an awesome weekend,

Glen plaid skirt

Hello my lovelies,

It’s not just sweater and knits season, fall is also great to wear some plaid pattern pieces.

The glen plaid is a combination of small and large checks and usually we can find it in muted neutrals (gray, brown, beige and black). The beauty of this color scheme is that it gives you unlimited possibilities for mixing it with other colors.

This print makes me think of fall for sure, but trust me, I couldn’t put on anything more than a skirt and a T-shirt, because October in LA means over 100 degrees F (38C). It has been pretty challenging to come up with great fall outfit ideas, when all I want to wear are super light beach dresses.

Some of you guys, that are actually enjoying the nice October weather, you can also wear this outfit just by throwing a coat or blazer over your shoulder.

Being a pencil skirt with a plaid pattern it will make you think first of an office outfit, so I definitely wanted to take it out of that zone and style it a little different.

I went more for a casual-elegant look, dressed down the skirt by adding the T-shirt, but still kept a little of it’s elegancy with the high heels.

Band T-shirt dress trend

Hello my lovelies,

The band T-shirt trend was huge in the 90s and it was basically the urban groupie definition.. If then, the trend was to wear them with ripped jeans, flannel shirt over and motorcycle boots, now, when they had such a big comeback, there are no fashion boundaries. Pair them with feminine accessories, high heels or even pencil skirt to get the ultimate street style.

Lately, I’m all about the low maintenance grunge look (especially that I was super sick when I took this pictures, so I needed something that didn’t require too much effort from me), but I think that a band T-shirt dress looks more badass than never.

With this look, I tried to bring a little bit of the 90s Seattle scene into present… I think I did a pretty good job 🙂

How do you like to style your band T-shirt or dresses?

Have an amazing week,

How to wear your oversized coat with style

Hello my lovelies,

Cozy outfits are a continuous favorite of mine during this time of the year, but on the other hand I don’t want to look like a walking onion with 1 million layers on me. And my dear, nothing makes you look more warmer or more stylish than an oversized coat.

You can definitely set out an outfit with an oversized coat, if you keep in mind your height when you choose the length of it, because all comes down to balancing out proportions. Taste and style it is our personal choice, so it might depends on your particular preferences.

Looking in my closet, I realized that for some reason I have more grey-ish shades for fall than brown or neutral. I feel that they give you more of a polished, sleek look than the warm shades.

Since I kept my outfit pretty much neutral, I decided to add a simple, but effective splash of color: a red beanie. It is that 5% of red that works in every outfit.

Knit dress: perfect fall outfit

Hello my lovelies,

Today’s post is another fall outfit because October is here, so it’s the smell of pumpkin spice lattes, cinnamon and all we have the best from fall. Besides the lattes, I don’t really feel that is fall in southern California, because it feels like summer (the temperatures were in upper 80 when I was shooting this outfit).

Let’s be honest: knit dress is not new, fashion forward or unseen, but yet cozy, really trendy that we’ll keep us warm.

Besides sweaters, the knit dress, is another staple piece to have in your closet for the cold season.

I got this dress from Forever XXI especially for fall, because it looked different with a little bit of sparkle and I felt for the olive green color of it. It is not one of those chunky unshaped dresses and the two slides on the sides gives it more of a feminine look even if you wear it with sneakers.

Knitted dresses are really versatile, so you can do some layering by adding a biker jacket or even throw a blanket scarf over it.

I wish you have a cozy, warm fall, full of stylish outfits.

How to style faux leather dress

Hello my lovelies,

Leather is one of the most stylish fabric, that I love to wear it all year round.

I really love the way it looks even if we talk about skinnies, biker jackets, skirts or dresses.

Leather itself is a fabric that makes quite a statement, so that being said I would definitely go for a leather dress that has more of a lose fitting and you will be able to style it so many different ways.

You can try a more unexpected styling (you all know already that I’m digging those ones for sure) and chose a pair of really cool sneakers and a denim jacket.

I’m pretty much obsessed with leather, so I will be styling more leather pieces in future posts… just stay close 🙂

How to wear – Pleated mini skirt

Hello my lovelies,

Today I wanna talk about this very stylish, yet understated plated skirt with mini length cuteness, that will pull your ultimate cool-girl move.

This bottom piece is really eye-catching, because the pleats look just stunning, so I would wear them with something simple ( top, shirt, tank top) and let it be the focal point of your outfit.

They come in a variety of lengths and pleats styles, so I`m sure that you can find the perfect one for your body type.

I chose to wear my pleated mini skirt with a loose-fit shirt (I love the little pearl details on the back of it) and a pair of sneakers to go for a more sporty-chic look.

I wouldn’t see myself wearing this skirt with high heels, just because mine is pretty short and I think that the sneakers or a pair of flats will give you that dose of cuteness and innocence.
