Silk dress and combat boots

One of my all time favorite tricks is to mix ultra feminine pieces, like this silk dress with masculine ones, in this case the combat boots.

combat boots

Combat boots are not worn anymore only by punk kids from the 90’s and, their renaissance in popularity have fashionistas styling them in so many different ways.

To be completely honest, I love this boots in every combination possible, but by far my go to look is with an ultra feminine dress.

I alway enjoyed to make this type of fashion contradictions, because I can mix together my girlie side with my tomboy-ish one… which I truly love them equally.

The combination between a summer-ish silk dress and a pair of combat boots it is extremely chic and very sophisticated. If you want to achieve more of a fall look, it is easy to layer it with any type of jacket.

I know that in So Cal it still feels like summer, even if it’s October and Halloween is just around the corner. I felt that this look is perfect for a end of summer fashion inspiration.

If you are not quite ready to give up all the light weight fabrics, so I’m telling you: simply don’t! If you are in the mood to play a little, go outside the norm, do some layering and incorporate them in outfits that are going to keep you warm.

Printed shorts: a fresh summer look

Printed shorts are the thing this summer. We’ve seen them everywhere with a variety of pattern to choose from: animals, flowers, leaves, palm trees… you can definitely find the right one for you.

printed shorts

When we talk about wearing shorts, we automatically think of them as a very casual alternative. However, I’m all about dressing them up sometimes to create a more stylish alternative.

Shorts are definitely one of the most versatile piece in your closet, because it helps you creating endless looks for summer.

On the other hand, when we talk about printed shorts in particular, they are just the puzzle piece that you need in order to create a statement.

I cannot get enough of wearing bold color designs in the summer, because besides the fact that they are really fun to wear, they are also really chic and will always give you a fresh look.

As I was saying, I wanted to dress up the shorts a little bit, so I paired them with an ultra feminine chiffon top and a cute pair of high heels.

If you think that styling a pair of printed shorts it’s difficult, let me prove you wrong. To be in the safe zone, just add a plain top. That way, you keep the focus on the pattern of the shorts but you also balance the entire look, in the same time.

How to rock the denim on denim trend

Double denim trend or denim on denim, whatever you want to call it, it’s been around for ages, but it’s one of those that won’t be going anywhere soon.

double denim

I sent my friend a picture with outfit (because the jeans were a gift from her) and what she told me it was funny. She was asking me if denim on denim it’s still on trend, because she loves to wear it but she thought that she was out of fashion. So Cami, this post is for you and for all of you that love double denim trend and you want to do it the right way.

Even thought it might look a pretty hard trend to nail it, I promise you it is not.

As a main rule, that you should follow on styling double denim is that the colors and the washes have to be completely different.

If you wanna go for a dark blue denim jacket make sure you pair it with a light washed pair of jeans. Or the other way around: light wash denim shirt with some black or gray jeans.

When doing this type of a look, I always look for pieces that fit me perfectly. It is a look that works better with slim cuts. So, a good tip will be to try it with your skinny jeans rather than your baggy ones.

A denim blue shirt with a pair of white jeans is my to go double denim look. It is a gorgeous look for summer time.

My denim shirt it’s pretty long so I prefer to tuck it in my jeans and leave more buttons open.

I kept my styling pretty simple and just layered some necklaces for the extra feminine touch. I wanted to complete the look with a pair of summer-ish shoes, and this wedges were the perfect.

Lingerie as outerwear – trend alert

Wearing your lingerie as outerwear can sound pretty crazy, right? Well, think about it again… We’ve seen this trend around for some years on & off, but lately it has continued to pick up speed.

lingerie trend

For the first time, I tried this trend a couple of years ago when I thought that wearing a lace bralette over a white tee it would be something a little bit out of the ordinary. Oh well… it was. Back then this whole lingerie trend it wasn’t such a big thing, so I got some “weird” looks :))

For today’s post I used a lace bralette as my crop top in my outfit.

I really believe that, wearing a nice piece of lingerie mixed in with some prêt-à-porter items, can look very seductive without being too much.

Even though, exposing your bra might not be too comfortable for many women, I would suggest you to try it… at least once. You can start by adding a semi-sheer blouse over your  favorite bra. It will make you feel more covered and the effect created it will not be as full-frontal.

Like in most of my outfits, I love to mix textures. For this particular look, I couldn’t think of something more appropriate to combine my lace bralette than this silk kimono. The high waisted jeans are cutting a little bit that bedroom/lounge vibe of the outfit and is bringing it into the street style zone.

With the right pieces mixed together, I have to say that I’m really digging this trend. Are you going to try it this summer? I would love to hear what do you think.

Have a gorgeous week,

XoXo, OD!

How to wear the pleated midi skirt with sneakers

It’s hard to believe that you don’t have already a pleated midi skirt. This type of skirt is a staple closet and we’ve seen it around for a while now.

pleated midi skirt

A pleated midi skirt is super easy to wear. You can take it in 2 opposite styling areas: elegant or casual. All depends on what you feel like wearing or where are you going.

When you decide what approach you take for this skirt, the shoes are the ones that are setting the tone of your outfit.

If you want to go for an elegant look, you need just to add a pair of cute high heels and a top.

I usually like to do a more casual styling with this kind of skirt, so I’m going to opt for a pair of fashion sneakers.

Even though is spring, we were getting colder temperatures in LA the last couple of days. So, I find this sweater more than perfect to wear it with my spring-ish skirt.

The volumes, created by this chunky sweater and the skirt it is something that I really enjoy. Call me crazy but I love the loose fitting clothes.

For this outfit, I chose to propose the bag in 2 different ways: as a crossbody bag and as a bag belt. To be honest, I wore it as a belt bag, because it’s the perfect trick to accentuate your waist line.

The fact that I decided to add sneakers to this look it’s no surprise for anyone. I love to mix and match items in order to create unique looks. And this fashion sneakers were the va va voom that my outfit was missing.

Happy hump day, my lovelies!

Smart casual: Dress pants and sneakers

Busy days require a simple, yet stylish look. Today, “the look” is about how we wear dress pants and sneakers.

dress pants and sneakers

To be honest, dress pants and sneakers it is a little of an understated look. I don’t understand why, because if done correctly it is super cool, fashionable and stylish. I don’t even have to say anything about how comfortable this look is.

The more elegant the trousers, the better, because the juxtaposition will create more of a balancing look.

When you want to go for this kind of look, what’s really important is the tailoring of the pants. You can wear them with a basic white t-shirt, but the dress pants need to have an impeccable fit. The reason why I’m saying this, it is because you really don’t want to look like you’re just commuting to work in your comfy shoes.

Bringing the look to the casual side by adding the sneakers and the white tee, I felt the need tp add a touch of glam. The pearl suspenders was the best accessory to complete the look.

I would highly recommend this outfit even for office, casual business meetings or even as a daily look, when your to do list seems never ending.

Camouflage vibes: the camo jacket

The camouflage print it’s been on trend since the 90’s. In the lasts couple of years, a statement piece, especially for the winter outfits it was the camo jacket.

camo jacket

The camo jacket it’s a one of a kind, because we can wear it all year round. It works great for the cooler summer nights as a light jacket, or during winter with a knit sweater and a cozy scarf.

Maybe if you have asked me a few years ago what I think about wearing camouflage print, the answer would have been no. It was the exact same case with the leopard print or latex.

Even before I started this blog, I decided to expand my horizon and step outside my comfort zone more often. I ended up feeling more comfortable and confident wearing pieces that I never thought I would.

Back to our topic of the day. Even though the camo jacket inspires a little masculinity, it can be very sexy.

I have to admit that I like a lot a look where feminine meets tomboy style. I like a lot how this camo jacket looks with jeans. But it is something about it that makes me always to mix it with dresses or skirts.

For today’s outfit, I paired my camo jacket with a mini black denim skirt and a gray sweatshirt. I finished up the look by adding a pair of combat boots that gives a badass vibe to the entire look.

There is though one more thing about the camouflage print that I wanna mention. There is enough just one piece with this print to polish a look. It is a statement print so our attention should be focus on one single item.

To make the camo print stand out, I like to mix it with neutral colors: whites, blacks and greys.

Let’s rock this new week, my lovelies. I wish you have a great one. XoXo

Trend alert: Corset Caged belts

As these interesting looking belts, are popping up more and more, today’s post is about them: the corset caged belts.

corset caged belts

I’ve started to see them in a lot of different outfits and I just asked myself what do I feel about them?

I have to admit that I like the idea behind this trend. We clearly live in a oversized everything era, so an accessory that brings the attention on the waist, a body part that we kind of ignored lately, isn’t a bad thing.

Speaking of the oversized trend and the corset belts fever, these two can actually work really nice together. Add a corset belt over an oversized t-shirt or jacket and it will automatically give you an extra sexy vibe.

The corset caged belts are for sure an eye catcher. It is a cool accessory that will add style to any regular outfit.

I decided to go for a basic look, something super simple, so you can see how a single accessory can change your entire outfit.

Without the corset caged belt, today’s outfit would have been just a white shirt and a pair of coated black jeans. With the right accessory it is that simple to change a common look into a statement one.

Details are the ones that make the difference my lovelies.

I wish you all that 2018 will make each and every dream of yours come true. Happy New Year!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Prism Palette Review

Hello my lovelies,

I didn’t make a beauty post in a while and when I ordered this palette my first though was to make a review for it and share my opinion with you.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Prism,  it’s a holiday limited edition palette. I have to say that I was pretty skeptical at first to order it, after all the Subculture drama this summer, but I decided to give it a try because those metallics were calling my name and to be honest, I have other ABH palettes that I completely love.

Prism (42$) has 14 pans x 0,7g each and it’s another velvet case palette. I have to say that it’s not my favorite type of packaging, because if you don’t take care of them, they can get really dirty.

The 14 shades are designed for holidays and they are a mix of mattes, metallics and duo-chromes.

I have been playing with it for the last 2 weeks and I have formed a solid opinion wether I like this palette or not.

Let’s go into more details about each and every shadow in this palette and I’ll break it in 2 parts:

  1. First row:

(left to right: Lucid, Eden, Unity, Sphinx, Osiris, Sphere, Obsidian)

LUCID: is one of the duo-chrome colors in this palette and it’s a light gold with a hint of pink. It is one of my favorite colors and I have used it in a daytime look by applying just a tiny bit all over the lid and blend it really well. As all the duo-chrome and metallics in this palette, works great if you apply it with your fingertips or a wet brush. (my personal preference is to apply it with my fingertips).

EDEN: it’s a matte coral-ish shade. This was one of the biggest surprises for me, because when I saw it for the first time, i thought that is totally out of my comfort zone. One day I tried it as a transition color in the crease and I loved the way my makeup turned out.

UNITY: It is a neutral matte shade that I use it to set out my eyelid primer or blend out other shades.

SPHINX: It’s a metallic bronzy shade, super pigmented.

OSIRIS: It is a metallic royal blue with some purple sparkle in it and I think it looks gorgeous used in a smokey eye.

SPHERE: It’s a matte neon yellow, that to be honest, I don’t see myself using it.

OBSIDIAN: it is a matte black, but requires some building. I already own “Noir” by ABH which is my all time favorite matte black and it’s way more pigmented than Obsidian. I prefer using that if I need a matte black in my makeup look

Second Row:

(left to right: Dimension, Parallel, Pyramid, Throne, Saturn, Eternal, Lure)

DIMENSION: It’s a duo-chrome and I was really excited to try this siver-lilac shade. I used it all over the lid and it look beautifully. I think is one of the most interesting shades in this palette.

PARALLEL: It is that perfect brown matte, that is super buttery and blends like a dream.

PYRAMID: It’s a super rich, bold metallic yellow gold that will make your Christmas party look to pop.

THRONE: It’s a metallic dark green, I feel it is more of a black with green sparkles in it, but either way it’s stunning. I think I know who will be the star of the show in my New Year’s Eve make look.

SATURN: This beautiful brick shade has a great formula that I found it really easy to work with, but it is also pretty similar with “Realgar” from Modern Renaissance palette.

ETERNAL: Since I got the palette, I reached for this metallic copper shade really often. It’s also true that I have a thing for coppery shades, but it just looks gorgeous in any fall makeup.

LURE: This is one of my go to transition and outer corner shades that I use almost everyday. It is in the same color scheme as “Buon Fresco” from Modern Renaissance, just slightly darker.

As a conclusion I would give it a 8 out of 10, because they are some shades that I would not use (3 out of 14 I think it’s pretty decent in a palette), but also because some of the colors need a little finesse with the application and some knowledge about different finishes and how to work with them.

I’m happy that this palette didn’t disappoint me at all, and not only that but it became one of my favorite palettes I own (and trust me I have “a few”).

I would love to know if you tried this palette or if it’s on your wish list for holidays.

XoXo, OD.

How to wear blazer and denim shorts

Hello my lovelies,

If you are familiar with my blog, you know that for me fashion and style means combining pieces that we wouldn’t normally wear them together. This was also the main idea behind this outfit: you would not necessarily mix a pair of denim shorts, which are totally casual, with an elegant black blazer.

It is a street style outfit that is really appealing and will make you look fabulous, without trying too much.

What I like a lot about this look is that you can mix almost any shoes with it: high heels to rock your girls night out, sneakers, if you have to run some errands around the city, and even flats for an end of summer romantic walk with your love.

Being mid September, add a pair of combat boots and make it the perfect summer to fall transition outfit.

It is one of my favorite looks and I think that makes you look put together with items, that you have for sure in your dressing.
