Skinny Leather Pants

Skinny leather pants are a great addition to any closet because doesn’t matter the occasion they can be your safe bet every time.

skinny leather pants

I want to straight some things out from the beginning: no matter how chic, fabulous, elegant the leather pants are, if the styling goes wrong, you just made them to look cheap and ridiculous… my advice to avoid this would be to pay a little extra attention when pairing them.

We are lucky… the days when the leather pants were considered appropriate only for a rock-chick or biker, are loooooooong gone.

When winter comes, I basically live in my leather pants. I think the skinny leather pants, in particular,  work best for me… they are more polished and they give me endless options when I want to play with shapes.

For today’s post I give 3 options of styling the same pair of skinny leather pants. They are all really different so you can try what fits your personality best.

First look is more “elegant-sexy-sophisticated”… and this vibe  was totally given by the choice of the shoes:  stiletto pumps. Keep your accessories to a minimum and you will exude trendiness and luxe.

Ankle boots and leather pants are by default some sort of uniform, but when you add an oversized sweater and coat … that sound like MY winter uniform.

Sweater: H&M/ Boots: Steve Madden/ Coat:Zara/ Bag & Hat: F21

For the last outfit, I chose a very casual/comfy look. The sneakers and the “unusual” jacket made the entire look more of an urban-chic-street style.

How to style a flannel dress?

Who doesn’t love cozy flannel pattern in the Fall? But in the same time, we want to wear them without looking dated. So, ladies and gents let me introduce you the star of the show: the flannel dress.

flannel dress

Plaid might seem the easiest pattern to wear; but I’m sorry to be the one breaking it down for you: it is the trickiest to pull off. Of course, in case that you don’t want to look like you just came back from the 2000’s.

A plaid print styled correctly it can look really cool and can give a high fashion, sophisticated vibe.

When comes to flannel shirts, I always choose the oversized ones… just because it’s easier to style them in a way that looks trendy. If they are not giving me a little of that masculine’ish vibe … I just avoid them by any means.

That’s also the reason why I loved this dress in the first place. It is chunky and oversized.

The red and black plaid pattern is the most popular out of all and to be completely honest it is the color combo that I’m not crazy about at all. The way it looks though on this dress doesn’t bother me.

Today, I styled the dress in 2 different ways, but you don’t need to stop there. This dress is one that offers you a plethora of styling options and can be worn in various seasons. It can make the best layering piece over a pair of leather leggings and a biker jacket on your shoulders.

It is a few inches shorter than I expected, but paired with the patent leather ankle booties and a black felt hat I achieved a unique, more low-key sexy look.

I changed up the tune a little bit for the second part from sexy to girlie. Adding the super fun pair of sneakers, a beanie and a jean jacket, same dress looks completely different. More of a casual, fun look perfect for your Fall rendezvous.

Silk dress and combat boots

One of my all time favorite tricks is to mix ultra feminine pieces, like this silk dress with masculine ones, in this case the combat boots.

combat boots

Combat boots are not worn anymore only by punk kids from the 90’s and, their renaissance in popularity have fashionistas styling them in so many different ways.

To be completely honest, I love this boots in every combination possible, but by far my go to look is with an ultra feminine dress.

I alway enjoyed to make this type of fashion contradictions, because I can mix together my girlie side with my tomboy-ish one… which I truly love them equally.

The combination between a summer-ish silk dress and a pair of combat boots it is extremely chic and very sophisticated. If you want to achieve more of a fall look, it is easy to layer it with any type of jacket.

I know that in So Cal it still feels like summer, even if it’s October and Halloween is just around the corner. I felt that this look is perfect for a end of summer fashion inspiration.

If you are not quite ready to give up all the light weight fabrics, so I’m telling you: simply don’t! If you are in the mood to play a little, go outside the norm, do some layering and incorporate them in outfits that are going to keep you warm.

Plaid for fall

Plaid trend started to be the biggest fall fashion trend in 2017. It continued it’s popularity through out the spring season, and here we are… Fall 2018 – plaid everywhere: plaid skirt, pants, blazers, etc. plaid skirt Instead of going away, this trend gain even more popularity and we can definitely talk about this pattern being timeless. With that being said, you can start buying some plaid garments (if you don’t have any already) to add them to your closet. Usually, I love to go for a gray scale when I’m wearing a plaid item, but when I saw this skirt I was immediately attracted by the beige tones. The earthy tones made it the perfect skirt for the fall season. I thought about this outfit as a perfect transitional summer to fall look. If it’s getting a little bit colder you just need to throw a jacket over your shoulders and you are fall ready 🙂 It is also a really versatile skirt. I shot this look while I was on vacation in Romania and when it got colder (around 34F – 2C) I just added some thermal tights, a pair of combat boots, cozy sweater and a leather jacket. You’ve seen in my previous posts, that I really like pleated midi skirts. I find them really flattering and they give you endless options of styling. You can take them from edgy to classy-elegant just by changing of your shoes. A plaid skirt is definitely something that you need to start playing with this fall. Is super trendy and also fun to mix it with different patterns. plaid skirt plaid skirt plaid skirt   plaid skirt plaid skirt   T-shirt: American Eagle Skirt: here Backpack: American Eagle Shoes: Converse Sunglasses: Gucci

My summer jam: floral maxi dress

When I think about hot summer days and long walks on the beach, my jam is for sure a floral maxi dress.

floral maxi dress

You have to love such an easy dress that you just throw it on and look so put together.

Honestly, I was always drawn to maxi dresses, but I never got one, until this summer. I simply did’t fine one before to have the length that I was looking for.

When comes to this particular type of dresses, I like them extra long, even though, I don’t wear them with hells or wedges.

I normally pair a maxi dress with a pair of flat sandals, or some cute slippers.

What I love the most about this floral maxi dress, are the little of the shoulder sleeves. It makes it extra feminine and sexy in the same time.

The buttons, that go all the way down, gives you the opportunity of wearing it in different ways. If you want to show off a little more skin, just unbutton it how much you want and it looks like a dress with a sexy slit.

Of course that being such a feminine dress, I paired it with some edgy booties to change completely the look.

Shooting this outfit in the desert, I felt that the boots were actually completing the look.

I just love everything about this dress: the pattern, the colors, fabric which is really light and of course the off the shoulders sleeves.

How do you like to wear you summer floral maxi dress?

I hope you have an amazing week, my lovelies.

Printed shorts: a fresh summer look

Printed shorts are the thing this summer. We’ve seen them everywhere with a variety of pattern to choose from: animals, flowers, leaves, palm trees… you can definitely find the right one for you.

printed shorts

When we talk about wearing shorts, we automatically think of them as a very casual alternative. However, I’m all about dressing them up sometimes to create a more stylish alternative.

Shorts are definitely one of the most versatile piece in your closet, because it helps you creating endless looks for summer.

On the other hand, when we talk about printed shorts in particular, they are just the puzzle piece that you need in order to create a statement.

I cannot get enough of wearing bold color designs in the summer, because besides the fact that they are really fun to wear, they are also really chic and will always give you a fresh look.

As I was saying, I wanted to dress up the shorts a little bit, so I paired them with an ultra feminine chiffon top and a cute pair of high heels.

If you think that styling a pair of printed shorts it’s difficult, let me prove you wrong. To be in the safe zone, just add a plain top. That way, you keep the focus on the pattern of the shorts but you also balance the entire look, in the same time.

How to rock the denim on denim trend

Double denim trend or denim on denim, whatever you want to call it, it’s been around for ages, but it’s one of those that won’t be going anywhere soon.

double denim

I sent my friend a picture with outfit (because the jeans were a gift from her) and what she told me it was funny. She was asking me if denim on denim it’s still on trend, because she loves to wear it but she thought that she was out of fashion. So Cami, this post is for you and for all of you that love double denim trend and you want to do it the right way.

Even thought it might look a pretty hard trend to nail it, I promise you it is not.

As a main rule, that you should follow on styling double denim is that the colors and the washes have to be completely different.

If you wanna go for a dark blue denim jacket make sure you pair it with a light washed pair of jeans. Or the other way around: light wash denim shirt with some black or gray jeans.

When doing this type of a look, I always look for pieces that fit me perfectly. It is a look that works better with slim cuts. So, a good tip will be to try it with your skinny jeans rather than your baggy ones.

A denim blue shirt with a pair of white jeans is my to go double denim look. It is a gorgeous look for summer time.

My denim shirt it’s pretty long so I prefer to tuck it in my jeans and leave more buttons open.

I kept my styling pretty simple and just layered some necklaces for the extra feminine touch. I wanted to complete the look with a pair of summer-ish shoes, and this wedges were the perfect.

Floral pants: a happy happy joy joy mood

Floral pants are definitely one of those items that you’re going to see me in all summer long.

floral pants

Usually when summer starts, I love wearing dresses, skirts, short, everything but long pants or jeans. Well, that it’s not the case when we are talking about this particular pair of pants.

First, I wanna talk a little about the fabric, so you can understand why they are the perfect pair of pants to wear in the summer. They are super soft and extremely lightweight. Literally they feel like you are not wearing anything which makes them really comfortable too.

What I love the most about this pair of floral palazzo pants , is the cut. The loose cut gives a graceful flare to your figure as you walk, which I find that to be a little sophisticated and ultra feminine.

I’m not a petite girl at all, but this type of pants will accentuate the length of your legs… and to be honest, which girl doesn’t like that?

In my lasts shopping sprees, I ended up buying only items with print or really colorful for the summer of 2018.

Floral print is the one that defines me the most. It always give me a happy happy joy joy mood, but in the same time is very feminine and sweet.

I was in love with the pastel color of the pants the flowers, so in order to keep that the focal point of my outfit, I paired the floral pants with a simple flowy white top.

The pants have a matching crop top, which you’ll probably see in a different post.

Don’t forget: when we talk about warm weather fashion, one thing it is for sure: floral prints will always be in style!

Linen dress for summer

If I had to think about the anatomy of the perfect summer outfit, the first thing that pops into my mind it is a linen dress.

linen dress

For me, the best fabric that you can wear during the hot summer months is linen, followed by silk and cotton.

Along with the cotton, linen is manufactured from a plant (flax plant) which makes it a 100% natural fibre.

It is for sure, the best fabric in terms of breathability. So, when Summer it’s fully on charge with the triple digits, I would highly recommend you wearing linen pieces. They are extremely lightweight and also highly absorbent.

We have so many options to choose from: pants, skirts, dresses, button down shirts, all ready for you to make a little room for them in your closet. You can find some budget friendly items at the mass market stores like Zara, H&M, or on the pricey side from Reformation or Free People.

The best part of having some linen pieces is that they don’t go out of fashion. Linen is timeless: our grandmothers used to wear it, our moms, and now here we are… wearing the same fabric.

The only downside to it is for sure the wrinkles. Linen creases in the first 5 minutes you put it on. That might be something that will make you say no to linen, and I can totally understand that. BUT, to be completely honest with you, it doesn’t bother me at all. Not only that, I can actually see a type of beauty in those wrinkles. As my statement says: I think there is beauty in everything!

For today’s post, I chose to style this gorgeous Versace linen dress in a different way.

Being a strapless – corset kind of dress it is definitely on the elegant side. That’s the reason why I chose to dress it down by adding the white Tee underneath and a pair of sneakers.

What are your thoughts on wearing linen?

Let me know in the comment section down below. I would love to hear from you

XoXo, OD!

Turban Fashion

A turban, it’s a fashion accessory and can be worn with style and class when you want to be out of the ordinary.

turban

We can incorporate a turban in pretty much any outfit, from swimwear to a daily look, or even in an evening outfit.

Accessorizing your outfit with a turban it is for sure one of the micro trends of this summer season, as we’ve seen it already on the runways (Gucci, Marc Jacobs, etc).

I’ve decided to try it myself in an outfit that screams: SUMMER.

Because this dress doesn’t say too much by itself, I think it definitely needs something extra.

I talked before about how we can drastically change the look of an outfit with the accessories. With that being said, in this case I let the turban to steal the whole show.

If you don’t know what to think about this trend yet, or if it’s something for your or not, you don’t need to invest in a turban. Instead, you can make one using the scarves that you already own. (All you need to do it is a little research about how to tie them).

I hope that you decide to give it a try, go ahead and play with fun prints, textures and give your outfits a fresh summer look.
